Arrests Made in Connection to Series of Business Break-ins and Vandalism in Long Beach

Instructions

Two young individuals have been apprehended by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) in relation to a series of criminal activities involving theft and vandalism targeting several businesses. The incidents occurred over a three-week period, leaving local business owners frustrated and prompting law enforcement to intensify their efforts. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring accountability for unlawful actions within the community.

Youth Suspects Linked to Multiple Crimes Across Long Beach

In the heart of Long Beach, two boys, aged 12 and 13, were taken into custody on May 12 following an investigation into a spate of burglaries and acts of vandalism that took place between early April 6 and late April 26. According to police reports, these juveniles, along with four other youths, are believed to be responsible for damaging or stealing from six establishments throughout the city. A stolen vehicle was reportedly used during some of these incidents, including at Sweet Jill's Bakery.

Jill Pharis, the bakery owner, recounted how the group broke into her shop only to discover there was no money in the cash register. Instead, they opted for pastries displayed prominently inside the store. Beyond taking food items, the intruders wreaked havoc by smashing floor tiles, destroying cupcakes, and scattering merchandise across the floor before fleeing the scene. Damage estimates range from $4,000 to $5,000, significantly impacting Pharis’s livelihood.

Chief Wally Hebeish of the LBPD praised his team for identifying and arresting those involved while thanking affected businesses for their collaboration during the probe. Despite this progress, authorities continue hunting for additional suspects connected to these offenses. Community members are encouraged to come forward with any relevant information through official channels or anonymously via Los Angeles County Crime Stoppers.

From a journalistic perspective, this case highlights the importance of addressing juvenile delinquency proactively. It underscores the need for stronger community ties and preventive measures to steer young people away from criminal paths. Furthermore, it serves as a reminder of the critical role played by both law enforcement agencies and cooperative citizens in maintaining public safety and supporting small businesses impacted by such crimes.
