Gabriel Tan's inspiration emerged during the pandemic from the expansive Parque da Cidade in Porto, where he observed the stacked terrace stones used both to manage undulating terrain and to serve as impromptu benches. Tan's challenge was to make this concept ergonomic, logical, and rational, also drawing significant inspiration from the hard-yet-soft sculptures of Japanese American polymath Isamu Noguchi.
